The Oldest Mummies Of The World... Are Chileans!!


Did you know that the oldest mummy of the world was found in Chile? The Chinchorros were the first ones making mummies in the entire world, even first that Egyptians.
Chinchorros’ mummies are 9.000 years old, and they were found in Chinchorro beach, Arica. Specialists don’t know too much about Chinchorros, but they have been studying mummies’ composition for many years.
The Chinchorros took off the corpse’s skin, muscles and organs, and then they refill it with mud and cover the corpse with the skin that they had taken off before. If the skin wasn’t enough for cover the whole corpse, they used animal skin to complete it. It’s pretty scary! Isn’t it?
The Chinchorros were one of the first ones in making rituals for dead people, but at the present isn’t known why they did this kind of rituals. Specialists are still researching for find more information about this interesting tribe of Chile.
